HOMECRAFT COMPETITION

ABOUT CAPELFEST

CapelFest is an annual FREE event that is significant for the Capel community, surrounding districts and the South West region.  Capel town welcomes over 10,000 visitors to this event which also allows not-for-profit, sporting and community groups from around the region to raise funds for their year’s activities.  Many children, young people and emerging artists including indigenous people are able to showcase their talents at the event by performing through dance and singing, while artists are able to exhibit their art at the Artistic Flair 2010.  Community education and awareness of our environment is also increased through visiting the Enviro tent.  It is believed that CapelFest strengthens the community pride with our Shire.

Two stages are in place providing non-stop entertainment in the form of singing and musical acts, as well as modelling and a variety of dance.  Street theatre also forms a large component of the FREE entertainment. Capel Apex group have a small train for young children, while a Clydesdale horse and buggy give rides to people of all ages and there is the always popular log chop to watch.  There are many interesting displays and demonstrations from groups such as LandCare, solar energy providers and more.  Community members are able to enter into a Homecraft competition, as well as submit their artwork to the Artistic Flair.  Havelins Amusements add a carnival atmosphere to the day.
